Opera reaches every corner of the globe and the Internet is one way of tying it all together. We added this page to provide a way to easily access vast amounts of opera information on the web. These pages, like PORTopera's, exist to detail the history and beauty of opera and the companies that keep performance alive.
OPERABASE provides links (with language indication) to over 600 opera houses and festivals (plus hundreds of singers, opera synopses, etc.) Operabase is in partnership with Opera America, the Times of London, the Corriere della Sera of Milan, the Grove Dictionary of Opera; it has been chosen as one of the top ten websites for classical music by Bonweb/Microsoft Press.
This list was compiled by a participatory web site known as
OperaGlass. We need to share new information on opera web sites with OperaGlass, just as they continue to share their resources with a world of opera fans. We hope that you enjoy this amazing list of links and ask that if you know of an opera web site that is not linked, please, tell us about it.
